New Bag from M&S
This is my new bag from M&S! Love it! I was looking for a handbag for Uni that would fit all my books in but still look cute!

We'll Take The Shrimp
With the upcoming BBC programme We’ll Take Manhattan, the fashion world’s gone crazy once again for The Shrimp. Jean Shrimpton rose to fame as a model in the 60’s with her wide-eyed stare, arched eyebrows and full lips. She was to become an icon of Swinging London and one of the first supermodels. Her relationship with David Bailey helped catapult her into public consciousness with their first...

Passionate Pastels
The pastel trend is rapidly dominating the spring/summer 2012 advertising campaigns and our wardrobes. The gorgeous shades of mint green, ice blue, lemon yellow and bubblegum pink remind me of an Italian ice-cream parlour full of mouth wateringly refreshing treats. These pastel colours are bringing us hope for the arrival of spring, and the S/S Mulberry advertising campaign made me long for a...

Chanel's Paris - Bombay Catwalk Show
Chanel’s latest Metiers d’Art couture collection debuted in Paris last week. The theme was Bombay, Indian glamour with lots of metallic saris, diamond detailing, shimmering embroidery, slim churidar trousers and kohl rimmed eyes. The designs were beautiful with delicate beading, ornate headpieces dripping with diamonds and shoes that shimmered like liquid gold. Karl Lagerfeld has taken...

Back in Love With Band Tees
I’ve fallen back in love with band tees. A few years ago I lived in band tees and skinny jeans and today I came across a band tee that refired my love for these indie items. The Black Keys are band full of rhythmic guitars and soulful voices. Their tee is so cute, grey background with their band name in bold red. Pair it with blue skinnies, topshop slipper shoes and a silk scarf tied in a...

Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model Live Review
Fashion fanatics flooded the ExCel centre in the east end of London to catch a glimpse of the contestants starring in this year’s Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model. The show has been so popular that a live event was created last year for fans to get up close and personal with the show’s stars. The excitement was palatable; young women dashed around packed stalls, snatching up bargains and...

Southampton City Art Gallery Says Boo
In a small gallery in the centre of Southampton lies the work of innovative artist, Boo Ritson. You’re first drawn to her bold colours and immediately think of pop art. Then you have the eerie feeling of being watched as you notice strange characters look down at you from their frames. At first her images look to be photographs of sculptures, their frozen smiling faces staring back at you....

Bathing in Beauty
It’s nearing the end of my first week at Southampton Solent and my new course, Writing Fashion and Culture, took us on a trip to beautiful, beautiful bath. We came to visit the fashion museum which houses wedding dresses through the ages as well as designer clothes from different eras. Although the pieces were amazing the exhibition was unfortunately small. However, just a trip to Bath was a...

Daisy Knights
Oh my blog! I haven’t been on here since January! Many apologies. As you may have seen from my last post I have a current obsession with skull jewellery, morbid yes, cool also. Whilst flipping through some old magazines I found this article about a young jewellery designer by the name of Daisy Knights and boy does she make gothic feminine. Her collections mix natural elements with macabre themes;...

Erdem's Pre Fall Collection
What I love about Erdem is he knows how to make a woman look like a woman. I’m loving how fashion is celebrating the female form at last with a turn away from modern living and looking back to glamorous days of old when one would never go out with gloves and a hat! Erdem’s Pre Fall ready to wear collection has a very Mad Men vibe to it with influences from the late 50’s and...

Vintage Hair Do's
Been getting into Vintage hair do’s at the mo - here’s my 60’s up do. A lot of back combing is involved, I could have got a higher beehive but I didn’t have a lot of time that morning. Basically leave your bangs down and take parts of the back section of hair and back comb them but make sure you leave a bit of hair down. Then give them a hair spray and fold it backwards...

New Year, New Knightly
I’m a huge Keira fan, I think she epitomises the English Rose. Also I want her cheekbones…seriously. She’s looking gorgeous in the Jan issue of Vogue with a more dramatic style than were used to seeing her in. Her dramatic Kohl lined eyes and red stained lips creates such a captivating image on the first 2011 cover that it instantly makes you want to make your first resolution...

The Hollister and the Ivy
Just visited the new Hollister store in Norwich and thought I’d go on a bit of a rant. I apologise to all who like the preppy, surfer look but I just don’t buy it. The way brands such as Hollister, Jack Wills and Fat Face make you buy into a brand name and all you get out of it is some posh loungewear which you could get from Primark cheaper and is probably still made buy the same poor...

Sock it to me!
The winter has certainly arrived in full force with snow battering my dwellings! As I write I’m sitting in my house-coat and scarf (yes I’m an old woman, I have a coat just for wearing around the house). I have a small predicament this winter, I’ve brought loads of cute velvet mini skirts due to the autumn trends and don’t want to give them up, but now my pins are...

Forever 21 - Your dreams can come true!
Your dreams can come true! You can now be Forever 21 in the UK. Well, you can certainly dress that way with the new opening of the first ever Forever 21 store in the UK. Birmingham is the lucky city to first have the American brand but don’t worry if you can’t wait for the rest of the stores to open, you can now head online. The brand has been around in the States since 1984 and has...

What the Folk?
The long, dark British winter is setting in, but have no fear, this season’s folk trend is set to keep you from turning blue. Folk inspired outfits dominated the runway this Autumn/Winter with designers from Chanel to Missoni channelling the theme. Layers were the key to this look which takes elements of boho, English country wear and highland chic to create a nomadic winter look. Over-sized...

Autumn Grunge
The phrase that’s everywhere at the moment: ‘The 90’s is back.’ I’m not even twenty years of age and the decade of my birth is back in fashion! Scary! But apart from that weirdness, I am loving the grunge look that’s back in style! The leather jackets with sheepskin linings, heavy boots, velvet leggings, knitted cardigans, lace dresses and ripped tees are...

Miu Miu A/W Collection
I’m loving Miu Miu’s new A/W collection with the applique flowers, pockets and bow detailing. The collection has a 60’s inspired theme with shift dresses and a flower power vibe. It’s a collection you wouldn’t normally expect for fall/winter with spring pastels and vibrant yellows mixed in with the standard winter black. I’m especially loving the purple...

Of course a girlish squeal erupted from me when Carrie flings open those closet doors (it has been requested to the boyfriend that I MUST have that wardrobe!!).  I read one review in the Guardian that said the film was it was...

Freshers is Over!
My freshers year is over! What a year it’s been, i’ve dressed as a cowboy, dog, bunny and a mr man. I’ve definitely been through my fair share of embarrassing outfits this year! I’ve learnt many things, such as never drink rum (add that to my list alongside whisky) and never leave facebook logged on when you leave a room!

I’m really loving Noa Noa and Toast’s catalogues and lookbooks which have gorgeous pictures that reflect certain decades, check out some of them above. I especially love Noa Noa’s Summer ‘08 and its 20’s beach theme. Wish we could go back to...

Epic Fail National Rail
Well I’m stuck waiting for another train as apparently the one I was on has “failed” oh dear. Ahh public transport how I love it. No matter I have The Carrie Diaries ready to read and when I make my fortune like Candace Bushnell no longer will I travel in these metal carriages…hmm yeah right.

Twenties Girl
I’m currently reading Sophie Kinsella’s new book Twenties Girl. I got really into the 1920’s and art deco for my A Level textiles project last year and since then i’ve been reading and collecting loads of things on the topic. Sophie Kinsella is a favourite author of mine anyway (im mad for those shopaholic books being a shopaholic myself!) and in this tale she writes about...

The new range of Gossip Girl inspired dresses have arrived at Miss Selfridge!!! They are super cute but I was hoping for a few more pieces, some that you could wear everyday! However I do love the floral two tone Blair dress! It would have been so cool if they had create Chuck inspired outfits, don’t tell the boyfriend but I totally would have made him buy that scarf and coat combo! Perhaps...
